This timeless classic by George Kleinsinger was a childhood favorite of guest narrator, Patti Smith, and her enthusiasm for it will bring a new perspective to this whimsical and touching piece of music. Hear Tubby the Tuba's melody ring throughout the orchestra and learn how melodies and soloists can come from the most unexpected places. Other works on the program include selections from Tan Dun's Concerto for String Orchestra and Pipa, Haydn's Cello Concerto in C Major, and Morton Gould's Tap Dance Concerto. Ms. Smith is a National Book Award-winning author, rock musician, photographer and poet.
