Variety writes that PRIDE's Ben Schnetzer has joined Oliver Stone's upcoming Edward Snowden biopic, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the infamous whistleblower.

Although Stone procured the rights for the story, along with producing partner Moritz Borman from Guardian journalist Luke Harding, THE SNOWDEN FILES is actually based on the novel, Time of the Octopus. The book, by Anatoly Kucherena, Snowden's Russian lawyer, mostly chronicles Snowden's stint seeking asylum from the United States in Russia.

Schnetzer joins Shailene Woodley (as Snowden's girlfriend), Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto and Scott Eastwood (as an NSA agent) in the cast. No word yet on the role Schnetzer will play.

Aside from PRIDE, Schnetzer also recently starred in the films THE BOOK THIEF and THE RIOT CLUB. He will soon be seen on the big screen in PUNK'S DEAD and WARCRAFT.
