Owl City's Adam Young picked a few of his favorite songs from his latest full-length studio release The Midsummer Station including the now double-platinum hit single "Good Time" (video nearing 100 Million views) along with "Gold,"and "Shooting Star" - recorded stripped down versions of these and paired them with two never-before-released songs - "Hey Anna" and "I Hope You Think of Me" to create the The Midsummer Station Acoustic EP. Due out today, July 30th on Republic Records, the EP comes nearly a year after the album release and will be followed by a month of headlining dates in addition to festival dates in North America as well as Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Beijing and Singapore.

The new EP also comes at the end of a very busy year for Young, who found himself contributing his talents to two animated feature films. Most recently with the DreamWorks Animated hit The Croods which teamed Owl City up with Yuna for "Shine Your Way" - a song they performed together on The Tonight Show in March. And last fall he wrote and recorded "When Can I See You Again?" for the Disney/Pixar smash Wreck-It Ralph. Owl City seems to have developed a knack for writing songs that work well with animated films. His first contribution was in September 2010 when he wrote "To The Sky" as the theme for Village Roadshow Pictures/Animal Logic film The Legend of The Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole and this past spring Rainmaker Entertainment chose "Shooting Star" for their Escape From Planet Earth Soundtrack and movie trailers. As the Wall Street Journal so aptly wrote this past March in a feature on Owl City, "In the age of computer animation, the go-to tunester is Owl City."

His uplifting and life affirming music also found fans at both Oreo and Pop-Tarts who tapped into the platinum artist to help with their 2013 campaigns. Oreo enlisted Owl City to record the theme for the national TV launch of their "Wonderfilled" campaign in May and in June Owl City headlined the Kellogg's Pop-Tarts free Atlanta show as part of their "Crazy Good Summer 2013 Concert Series" alongside Hot Chelle Rae.

Owl City has been going non-stop since the release of The Midsummer Station including a world headlining tour last fall and a US tour with Maroon 5 and Neon Trees earlier this year. Now with the "Good Time" single certified double platinum and nearly 100 Million views of the video, it seemed like time to give the fans something special this summer. The Midsummer Station Acoustic EP does just that by revisiting several of his and his fans favorite tunes from the album and offering up a few new ones.
