In late April , star of Broadway's THE MOTHERF**KER WITH THE HAT, Chris Rock stopped by the The Oprah Winfrey Show to put his signature sidesplitting spin on marriage, parenthood and his latest project: Broadway.

In the episode, Winfrey revealed that starring in a show on the Great White Way is one of her dreams, commenting: "You know, it's the one thing I want to do."

"You have to do it," responded Rock.

"It's the one thing I want to do. Well, we gotta find a play," she added. "That's my dream."

Now, Oprah tells the Chicago Tribune that

"I have a stack of plays in my bag right now that I am reading," Winfrey said with great enthusiasm and determination last week as part of a frank and wide-ranging interview on her Chicago past and professional future that will appear May 22 in a special section of the Tribune. "And just this past weekend, I was in New York meeting with producers. We were just talking about what would be the best route to take. But yes, this is really going to happen. ... Life is too short. "I think," Winfrey said, "that an ensemble production is the way I should go."

Oprah made her acting debut in 1985 as "Sofia" in Steven Spielberg's The Color Purple, for which she received both Academy Award® and Golden Globe® nominations. She also has been lauded for her performances in the made-for-television movies Before Women Had Wings (1997), There Are No Children Here (1993), and The Women of Brewster Place (1989). She also has lent her voice to animated feature films, including Charlotte's Web (2006), Bee Movie (2007) and The Princess and the Frog (2009).

Twenty years after she made her movie debut as "Sofia" in The Color Purple, Oprah made her Broadway debut as a producer for the Tony Award®-winning hit musical "The Color Purple," which opened on December 1, 2005, at the Broadway Theatre in New York City. The show continues to tour throughout the United States.
