Opéra de Montréal Presents Pink Floyd's ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL: THE OPERA

Opéra de Montréal presents an opera to mark the 375th anniversary of Montreal: Roger Water's legendary work, The Wall, on the opera stage! It is now playing through march 27th.

The premiere of this adaptation on the Montreal stage is highly significant, as it was after a concert at Montreal's Olympic Stadium in 1977 that Roger Waters got the idea for the project. Starting out as a concept album (1979) and then a film (1982), The Wall is a psychological drama inspired by Roger Waters' life. Through a depiction of Pink's feelings of alienation and isolation, The Wall is representative of the difficulties of an entire generation, whose members are faced with the collapse of their dreams and the world they know.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, former Pink Floyd singer-songwriter Roger Waters said, "I asked him to do MIDI demos of 'Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2' and 'Comfortably Numb,' and they were actually really interesting - but more than interesting, moving. You can hear the attachment to the original work, but barely in some places. It's very much his work, and I just had to throw my hands up and go, 'You know what? You convinced me. Go for it.'"
