Olney Theatre Center presents Paul Morella's adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas in the Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lab from November 28 - December 28, 2014.

The Washington Post calls A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas ,"(A) show to delight holiday audiences." DC Metro Theater Arts says, "You will not find a finer production of A Christmas Carol anywhere this holiday season." MD Theatre Guide says, "Mr. Morella ignites the imagination with his natural storytelling abilities." Washington City Paper says "no single performance can compare with Olney's Paul Morella."

This is the fifth consecutive year that Olney Theatre Center has presented Morella's unique adaptation of Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas. Morella's version is presented as an interactive combination of story-telling and theater. This one-man show is told as originally intended through Dickens' prose, imagery, and characterizations. Morella plays just under 50 characters and each year he delves deep into the novella to discover more about the characters.

"Every year we essentially take the show apart and put it back together again," says Paul Morella. "The goal is to allow the experience to continue to evolve and deepen - both for myself and especially, the audience. While the words are those of Dickens himself, I am constantly going back to the original text - looking for new things to add, characters to inhabit and ways to keep the story fresh, vibrant and in tune with the time."

This heartwarming tale of holiday redemption and renewal has received critical acclaim, sold-out houses, and become a holiday tradition for many DC theatre-goers.

"Paul's masterful solo performance presents Dickens' novel like you've never seen it before," says Artistic Director Jason Loewith. "This holiday season audiences can rediscover this classic story of A Christmas Carol and be immersed in the wonderful atmosphere created for this theatrical adventure."

A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas is made possible in part by production sponsors James Pape and Nancy Newman-Pape.
