Hosted by Magalie Laguerre-Wilkinson reporting from the Holiday Train Show at The New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx, the December edition of CUNY TV's ARTS IN THE CITY debuts Friday, December 13, celebrating family and holiday events around the city.

ARTS IN THE CITY is broadcast and cablecast on Friday at 10am, 3pm and 8:30pm; repeated Sunday 12/15 at 12 noon on CUNY TV; and beginning Friday 12/13 is available for viewing 24/7 on www.cuny.tv. CUNY TV is broadcast in the tri-state area on digital Ch. 25.3, and cablecast in the five boroughs of New York City on Ch. 75 (Time Warner and Optimum), Ch. 77 (RCN) and Ch. 30 (Verizon FiOS).

Included in the December program are:

• The Holiday Train Show, an extraordinary display of miniature New York landmarks threaded with tracks and moving trains, celebrating its 22nd year at The New York Botanical Garden. Interviewed is Karen Daubmann, Director of Exhibitions, who provides an insider's viewer of the popular exhibit.
• Holiday Windows at New York's department stores are covered by Tinabeth Pin?a, including Macy's, Lord & Taylor, Henri Bendel, Tiffany, Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdale's and Saks Fifth Avenue. Interviewed are Paul Olszewski, Visual Director, Macy's; Roe Palermo, DVP Visual Merchandising, Lord & Taylor; Liz Rodell, President, Hudson's Bay Company, the corporate owner of Lord & Taylor and Saks Fifth Avenue; Tony Spring, President & COO, Bloomingdale's; and Harry Cunningham, SVP Visual Merchandise & Store Planning, Saks Fifth Avenue.

• Peter and the Starcatcher, winner of 5 Tony Awards during its Broadway run from April 2012 to January 2013, is now off-Broadway at the intimate New World Stages. Billed as "A Grownup's Prequel to Peter Pan," the play by Rick Elice is based on the popular novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. Donna Hanover speaks to cast members Rick Holmes and Steve Rosen and tours the theatre and set with playwright Elice.

• Julio T. Leita?o, Founder and Artistic Director of Batoto Yetu (Swahili for "Our Children") talks with Magalie Laguerre-Wilkinson about engaging inner city youth in African dance, music, and folklore. Also interviewed about the inspiring company are Rehearsal Director Jeriah West, and former and current dancers Ashinique Spivey, Adia Lara-Thein and Lili Massac. Batoto Yetu has an upcoming concert on Saturday, Dec. 28 at Aaron Davis Hall, City College of New York.

• Celebrating its 36th year in New York City, Big Apple Circus is at Lincoln Center for its annual holiday engagement, this time with a Times Square-themed extravaganza. CUNY TV's Mike Gilliam dons the red Ringmaster coat and welcomes the audience; interviewed are Ringmaster John Kennedy Kane, clown Rob Torres, and animal trainer Jenny Vidbel.

Pat Collins offers a preview of Movie Blockbusters, including a look at scenes from 14 films that will be released during the holidays.

• And, for some holiday fun, Barry Mitchell and his friend Allie engage in a competition to assemble a real gingerbread house from a kit.

ARTS IN THE CITY returns in January with an all-new edition. The December edition is produced by Alex J. Diamond and Graham Douglass. Executives in Charge of Production are Susan Iger and Gail R. Yancosek. Executive Producer is Robert Isaacson.
