A starry cast has been assembled for Alive in the World, a new musical by Paul Scott Goodman that will be presented as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival's Developmental Series.  It will be seen in 6 performances from September 14th through 17th at the Sage Theatre.

Billed as a "New Musical in Progress," the show will be directed by Sh-K-Boom Records' Kurt Deutsch.  Alive in the World features book, lyrics and music by Goodman, who is best known for his Bright Lights, Big City, recently seen at the Prince Music Theatre in Philadelphia.

Alive in the World will star Tony Award-nominee Kelli O'Hara (The Pajama Game, The Light in the Piazza), Marcy Harriell (Lennon, Rent), Aaron Lohr (See What I Wanna See) and Greg Naughton (Off-Broadway's Scenes from an Execution).

"Kate (Harriell), a political activist, is married to Sam (Naughton), a prematurely retired Wall Streeter, but she falls for Michael (Lohr), a painter. Sam meets Stella (O'Hara), a 9/11 widow. This evolving musical attempts to capture moments in our time, evoking place, memory, love, loss and hope in New York City, where the specter of terror hangs heavy. How do we reach for happiness? Who do we hurt by doing so? How do we feel 'Alive in the World'?," as the show is described in press notes.
