Nine Shows Featured on ABC's Bway Spring Preview, March 25; O'Hara to Co-Host

WABC 7 will present "Broadway Backstage: Spring Preview" on Saturday, March 25th from 7:30 – 8:00 PM (Channel 7). The half-hour special will feature Broadway's hottest shows including The Threepenny Opera, Tarzan, The Pajama Game, The Drowsy Chaperone, Ring Of Fire, Jersey Boys, Well, Shining City and The History Boys.

The Pajama Game's Kelli O'Hara and Steve Bartelstein (WABC) will serve as co-hosts.

"There's something for everybody on Broadway this spring, from splashy, fresh musicals to big budget revivals, compelling dramas to light hearted comedies. Tune in to WABC 7 as they take you behind the scenes and talk to the stars," state press notes. The show will include special interview footage with the stars and creators of those nine shows.

The Roundabout Theatre Company's production of The Pajama Game, starring Harry Connick Jr. and Kelli O'Hara, is currently running at the American Airlines Theatre, while Jersey Boys--featuring the music of the Four Seasons--currently plays the August Wilson Theatre and Ring of Fire--a musical revue of Johnny Cash songs--the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.

The Roundabout's The Threepenny Opera--starring Alan Cumming, Ana Gasteyer, Cyndi Lauper and Nellie McKay, will open at Studio 54 on April 20th after beginning previews on March 24th. Disney Theatricals' big-budget musical Tarzan will swing into the Richard Rodgers Theatre for previews beginning March 24th; it opens May 10th. The Drowsy Chaperone, starring Sutton Foster, will begin previews at the Marquis Theatre on April 3rd and open on May 1st. Well, a play by Lisa Kron, opens at the Longacre Theatre on March 30th; it is currently in previews. MTC's production of Conor McPherson's Shining City, starring Brian F. O'Byrne, Oliver Platt and Martha Plimpton, begins previews at the Biltmore Theatre on April 20th. Alan Bennett's The History Boys begins previews April 14th at the Broadhurst Theatre and opens on April 23rd.
