The New End Theater, London, and the Center Theatre Group / Mark Taper Forum, Los Angeles, have both announced that they will present premieres of Lynn Redgrave's new solo play, Nightingale.

Written by Redgrave,
Nightingale is inspired by memories of her maternal grandmother, Beatrice Kempson. The world premiere engagement of the show, directed by Redgrave, will play from January 17 - February 18, 2006 in London; it will star Caroline John.

The American premiere of
the play is set for an exclusive one-night-only performance at the Mark Taper Forum, on Monday, February 27, starring Redgrave, and directed by
Joseph Hardy.

Nightingale has previously been seen in several sold-out readings, most
recently at New York's Culture Project, and the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, DC. Nightingale is Lynn Redgrave's third play.  Redgrave, a member of the famed acting clan, is also the author of Shakespeare For My Father (which traces her relationship with her father, the late Michael Redgrave) and The Mandrake Root (loosely based on her mother, actress Rachel Kempson).

In other news, Redgrave will star as 'Lady Bracknell' in Sir Peter
Hall's new production of The Importance of Being Earnest, which begins performances at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles (January 17 - March 15), before continuing on a tour that concludes at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.  Redgrave has appeared on Broadway in The Constant Wife, Moon Over Buffalo, The Master Builder, Saint Joan and more; she received Tony nominations for her work in Shakespeare for My Father and Mrs. Warren's Profession.  Her many film credits include Kinsey, Spider, Gods and Monsters and Georgy Girl; she was nominated for Oscars for the latter two films.
