Nicole Richie to Host Environmental Media Association's 2016 EMA Awards

Creative director, actress and philanthropist Nicole Richie is set to host the Environmental Media Association's (EMA) 26th annual EMA Awards on Oct. 22 in Burbank, Calif.

Multi-Grammy Award nominee Moby will be presented with the EMA Missions in Music Award at The EMA Awards annually recognize and honor environmental influencers and leaders who exemplify the commitment and effort to raise awareness of environmental issues.

"We can think of no better person to host the EMA Awards than our very own Nicole Richie," said Debbie Levin, President of EMA. "As a longstanding member of our board, Nicole quite simply captures the spirit of the EMA Awards; she has a deep philanthropic history and commitment to the environment. With her sense of humor, big heart, and knowledge about the environmental issues, Nicole brings the perfect combination of entertainment and advocacy to the stage. Guests at the 2016 EMA Awards are in for a real treat."

Richie will lead a night under the stars on the Warner Bros. studios backlot, where Moby will receive the EMA Missions in Music Award for his leadership and advocacy of environmental issues.

"There is so much depth to this talented musician. On top of being a multi Grammy award nominee and releasing hit after hit, Moby has been a leader and crusader for a number of issues close to his heart," said Levin. "It's simply amazing what he's been able to accomplish. From starting his own non-profit, to advocating on Capitol Hill for net neutrality, to opening his own 100-percent organic vegan restaurant, Moby uses his talent to bring good to the world. We're proud to present him with the EMA Missions in Music Award."

"The earth is a special place and we should be doing everything we can to pass it on to generations to come as a habitable place where they can thrive," said Moby. "EMA is on a mission to preserve the environment and they act as a catalyst for change, something very valuable to me. I'm honored to accept the EMA Missions in Music Award."

The chart-topping artist now joins actress Shailene Woodley and actor and musician Jaden Smith on the slate of special honorees at the 2016 EMA Awards. Woodley and Smith will be recognized for leading the fight on environmental issues and sustainability and paving the way for younger generations to stand up and have their voice heard.

This year's awards will celebrate the 26th anniversary by looking toward the future, honoring exciting and innovative new voices in the environmental world and platforming some of EMA's latest planet-positive programs. The evening will spotlight excellence in film/TV/digital and beyond, and usher in EMA's 2.0 mission of promoting environmental awareness through media and inspiring green innovation in technology and business. The 26th annual EMA Awards will be presented by Toyota & Lexus and Calvert Investments.
