WHY SO MUCH SHAME? a new solo show by Nicole Ferraro, will play five performances at Under St. Marks Theater as part of the FRIGID New York Festival. Through vivid storytelling, Nicole explores losing her father at six, trying to still get his attention, and how everything changed nearly 20 years later when she learned the truth about his death.

Told through the perspective of a child whose quiet grief is only expressed through "Dead Dad" jokes, and a woman who's forced to face facts about her "perfect" dad, WHY SO MUCH SHAME? is a heart-stirring and uplifting story of self-discovery through loss, and the powerful shift that happens when we stop pretending.

Nicole Ferraro (writer and performer) is thrilled to be making her solo show debut at FRIGID New York. A writer and storyteller, Nicole has performed in several storytelling shows and reading series across NYC, including The Story Collider, Sideshow Goshko, NoName @ WordUp, City Stories: Stoops to Nuts, Rimes of the Ancient Mariner, Mr. Beller's Reading Series, and more. She is also co-host and co-curator of the monthly storytelling series New York Story Exchange, downstairs at Cornelia Street Café. Her personal essays have been published in The New York Times, The Frisky, The Story Collider Magazine, Mr. Beller's Neighborhood, and elsewhere. By day she is the editor-in-chief of Netted, a publication by The Webby Awards. www.nicoleferraro.nyc

Sara Peters (director) is a journalist and sportswriter, covering the spectacularly frustrating subjects of cybersecurity for Dark Reading and the New York Knicks for Bleacher Report. As a storyteller she's been featured at TEDMED, The Story Collider, The Liar Show, Peter Aguero's Bare, and on The Moth podcast. Her favorite acting roles include Lizzie in The Rainmaker and Jacie Triplethree in Comic Potential, and fondest directorial efforts include Dealer's Choice and Spinning Into Butter. She is both honored and tickled pink to help her brilliant friend Nicole Ferraro bring WHY SO MUCH SHAME to the stage. She's occasionally known as Legs Benedict.
