New Broadway Cast Recording of HAIR to 'Let Sunshine In' On Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Label 2009/03/26

The Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Records website has the New Broadway Cast Recording of Hair listed as one of their forthcoming releases, the recording rights were rumored to have been won by Sh-K-Boom and the listing on the website would seem to confirm it. No recording/release date has been set at this time.

HAIR began preview performances on Friday, March 6th, and has its Opening Night set for Tuesday, March 31, 2009. After a smash-hit run at Central Park‘s Delacorte Theater last summer, HAIR returns to Broadway for the first time in over 30 years.

The story of a group of young Americans searching for love and peace during the Vietnam era, HAIR is a timeless portrait of a movement that changed the world. Its groundbreaking rock score paved the way for some of the greatest musicals of our time. Now, the "Age of Aquarius" dawns again in this jubilant new production directed by Diane Paulus, with choreography by Karole Armitage. HAIR features a book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado, and music by Galt MacDermot.

As HAIR readies for its Broadway makeover and London premiere, rumors are beginning to swirl as to which current cast members will be settling in across the pond and which new faces will be gracing the Broadway production. The newest reports out suggest that American Idol alumni Ace Young (season 5's seventh runner up) and Diana DeGarmo (season 3 runner up) are among the new picks for the Broadway replacement cast. No official announcement has been made by the production, although it is expected that casting announcements for London and New York are imminent, as the new Broadway performers go into rehearsal in the coming weeks.
