New York Philharmonic Extends Agreement with Bravo! Vail Through 2017

Bravo! Vail and the New York Philharmonic today announced a three-year extension of the Orchestra's annual summer residency through the summer of 2017. The Philharmonic has been performing at Bravo! Vail since 2003.

"We are delighted to announce the continuation of the New York Philharmonic's residency at Bravo! Vail, which takes us through the summer of 2017," said James W. Palermo, executive director, Bravo! Vail. "Summer in Vail is synonymous with the New York Philharmonic and now twelve seasons after their first residency, this world-renowned orchestra is more popular than ever with local audiences and visitors alike."

"Bravo! Vail is an idyllic setting and partnership for performances of the New York Philharmonic every summer," said New York Philharmonic Executive Director Matthew VanBesien. "Alan Gilbert, our musicians, and everyone at the Philharmonic always look forward to our residency at Bravo! Vail, and each year we enjoy renewing the friendships we have forged across the Vail community - not only with Anne-Marie McDermott, Jim Palermo, and the entire Bravo! Vail organization, but with the people of Vail, the wonderful audiences we enjoy each summer, and our education partners on the ground there. It is hugely gratifying to be able to announce that our partnership will continue for another three years."

"Working with Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic is a singular joy," said Anne-Marie McDermott, artistic director, Bravo! Vail. "Their artistry and commitment to bold, innovative, and engaging programming brings vitality and depth to Bravo! Vail. I am thrilled our relationship is continuing to grow."

In addition to giving concerts at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail, the New York Philharmonic's residency activities will now include a statewide concert broadcast on Colorado Public Radio. Philharmonic musicians will be invited to perform in a variety of concerts, including Bravo! Vail's acclaimed chamber music series and the Silver Oak and Twomey series, where classic works are juxtaposed with contemporary pieces.
