Music Director John Daly Goodwin has announced New York Choral Society's (NYCS) 53rd concert season. The season opens September 11 with a performance at St. Patrick's Cathedral, under the auspices of the September Concert Foundation, in commemoration of those affected by the 9/11 tragedy. On November 6, NYCS will appear as guest performers for the 18th time at the Richard Tucker Music Foundation Gala at Avery Fisher Hall. For the holiday season the choral society returns to Carnegie Hall on December 14 with a delightful program entitled "A Joyful Noise," and the following month will perform Wagner's Rienzi at Avery Fisher Hall on January 29 with the Opera Orchestra of New York. The season concludes on April 20 at Avery Fisher Hall with "American Reflections", a program featuring the works of American composers.

2011-12 also marks John Daly Goodwin's final season as Music Director. After thirty-one years with the NYCS, the last twenty-five of them as Music Director, Maestro Goodwin has decided to step down in order to pursue new musical opportunities. The search for a new Music Director is currently underway.
