This summer, The New Victory Theater introduces kids to the worlds of comedy, theater and circus during New Victory Kids Weeks. Each one-week interactive session of play, learning and exploration, for kids ages 7-11, focuses on a different type of performance art, offering kids the flexibility to customize their summer experience with The New Victory based on their personalities and interests.

"This season we redesigned New Victory Kids Weeks to better cater to the passions and busy schedules of New York City kids to make it easy for any kid to have a performing arts experience with us this summer," says Lindsey Buller Maliekel, Director of Education/Public Engagement at The New Victory Theater. "Whether they want to focus on only one week of comedy, theater or circus, or join us for all three weeks to get a well-rounded taste of performing arts, this new format will allow for that," she continues.

With no previous experience required, New Victory Kids Weeks are designed to help kids discover new skills, hidden talents and the thrill of performance-all while having fun and making new friends!

As one of the only comedic learning opportunities for kids ages 7-11, Comedy Kids Week, which runs from July 14 - 18, 2014, will guide aspiring comedians and comediennes in improvisation, joke-telling, character creation, clowning and prop and physical comedy.

During Theater Kids Week, running from July 21 - 25, 2014, all the world's a stage and the kids are The Players as they explore acting, design, puppetry, dance, improvisation...just to name a few!

At Circus Kids Week*, taking place from July 28 - August 1, 2014, kids run away with the circus in a week of clowning, juggling, dance, theater games and more.

*The New Victory Theater will also host a Circus Kids Week during NYC Public Schools' Spring Break from April 14 - 18. More details here.

During each New Victory Kids Week, participants attend a live performance at The New Victory Theater; each week culminates in a showcase of new and exciting skills for family and friends. New Victory Kids Weeks run Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm and are taught by a professional ensemble of New Victory Teaching Artists at the New 42nd Street Studios (where Broadway shows rehearse)!

Registration Information: New Victory Kids Weeks are on-sale now starting at $450 for Members and $500 for non-members, with discounts offered when participating in more than one week or registering for more than one kid. Two registrations cost $810 for Members and $900 for non-members, and three registrations cost $1080 for Members and $1200 for non-members. To register, visit www.newvictory.org/Workshops.aspx.

About the New Victory Education Programs: The multidisciplinary and international productions on New Victory stages inform and inspire the work of the award-winning New Victory Education Programs through a dynamic combination of school and public programs. Through the award-winning New Victory Partnership Program, 34,000 pre-K-12 students visit The New Victory Theater at just $2 per ticket (the same price they were when The New Victory opened in 1995!) and participate in FREE classroom workshops taught by an exceptional team of New Victory Teaching Artists each season. Many Education Partners are NYC-area Title I schools, with a high percentage of students who would be unable to experience live theater if it weren't for The New Victory.

Working with the New Victory Front of House staff, the Education Department also oversees the New Vic/New 42 Youth Corps, a job training program that provides 27,000 hours of paid employment and professional development to high school and college-age youth each season. Families who attend the New Vic together pair their theater-going with New Victory Family Workshops as well as in-theater exhibits and arts activities. Together, these nationally-recognized programs exemplify the New Vic's long-standing commitment to the intrinsic value of cultural participation in the lives of young people and families.

About The New Victory Theater: The New Victory Theater introduces extraordinary performing artists from around the world to extraordinary audiences in New York City, bringing kids to the arts and arts to kids. Created in 1995 for young New Yorkers, their families and schoolmates, The New Victory Theater presents a diverse season of international companies at low ticket prices year after year. Through the theater's award-winning education programs, The New Victory continues to provide access to schools and communities of New York City who seek to experience and engage with the work on our stages, often for the very first time. The theater's contributions to the cultural landscape of the city were celebrated by the prestigious New York critics' organization, The Drama Desk, which presented The New Victory Theater with a 2012 Special Award for "providing enchanting, sophisticated children's theater that appeals to the child in all of us, and for nurturing a love of theater in young people."

About The New 42nd Street: Building on the foundation of seven historic theaters, The New 42nd Street leads the dynamic evolution of the reinvented 42nd Street, cultivating a unique New York City cultural and entertainment destination through its three projects: The New Victory Theater, a performing arts theater devoted to kids and families; the New 42nd Street Studios, a state-of-the-art, 10-story performing arts complex for rehearsal, performance and arts administration; and The Duke on 42nd Street, an intimate black-box theater. An independent, nonprofit organization, The New 42nd Street is committed to the transformational power of the arts.
