Known by his fans as "The Texas Chef", McDonald's newest effort, Down Home Texas, features 89 flavorful dishes, including updates of tried-and-true favorites plus new twists on classics.

Stan McDonald was born and raised in Texas enjoying rural life on the Little Hoss Ranch managed by his cowboy grandfather. His love for cooking came from watching his grandmother cook for the family, and it has been a driving influence in his life as a chef. Food brought his family, friends, and neighbors together and was part of their lives in a way that transcended nourishment for the body. It was nourishment for their souls.

In 1974 Stan took this philosophy to heart and began cooking full time, traveling the United States in a wide-ranging search for culinary knowledge. He has worked in virtually every type of food establishment, but he always returned to his Texas roots and love for Texas cuisine.

Stan has made guest appearances at Good Morning Texas, Concho Valley Live, and the Brady Goat Cook-Off. He has also been featured in the San Angelo Standard-Times, Midland Reporter-Telegram, Bandera County Courier, and Brownwood Bulletin.

McDonald is available for appearances in Texas and nationwide.

The Texas Chef: Down Home Texas ($20) can be purchased in the General Store at Stan McDonald's website, thetexaschef.com. His recently revamped website features recipes from the Texas Chef's kitchen, colorful personal stories, monthly giveaways, and a photo gallery of his adventures on the road.
