Life's surprises are often questioned by children, especially in terms of new additions to the family. In "Honeybun" (published by Trafford Publishing) author B. J. Taylor narrates the adventures of Honeybun, her family's spunky dog who gets lost and later brings home a big surprise.

Honeybun, a Lhasa Apso, is the guardian of the author's real-life family. But Honeybun becomes lonely after the kids of the house return to school.

Honeybun gets lost after chasing and playing with a neighborhood dog. When she returns to her family, Honeybun begins eating ravenously and gaining weight.

By the book's end, Honeybun is crafting a nest out of torn-up newspaper in preparation for a special delivery - a litter of puppies

"Children might be led to understand that curiosity can lead one to experience things for which they are not prepared," Taylor says.
