Stage legend Nathan Lane has signed on for the film adaptation of Caren Lissner's 2003 novel CARRIE PILBY, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Susan Johnson directs from a script by Kara Holden.

Gabriel Byrne, William Moseley, Jason Ritter, Vanessa Bayer and Colin O'Donoghue have also joined previously announced Bel Powley in the cast. The story follows Carrie (played by Powley), described as "a 19-year-old genius who has just graduated from Harvard and has no idea how to fit in or socialize in life outside college."

Lane will take on the role of Carrie's therapist 'Dr. Petrov' (who was originally to be played by Eddie Izzard). Byrne will play Carrie's father and Moseley will appear as 'Cy', her love interest.

Byrne will soon be seen on the big screen in THE 33. Among his recent film credits are LOUDER THAN BOMBS and VAMPIRE ACADEMY, as well as History Channel's VIKINGS. Moseley currently stars on E!'s THE ROYALS and has appeared in the THE CHRONICLES OF NARIA films and THE VEIL.

After he narrates the New York Philharmonic's upcoming New Year's Eve concert, Lane will appear in FOX's new anthology series AMERICAN CRIME STORY. He recently starred on the big screen in MIRROR MIRROR, I'M STILL HERE and SWING VOTE, and on TV in THE GOOD WIFE and MODERN FAMILY.

Among Lane's many Broadway credits are IT'S ONLY A PLAY, THE NANCE, THE ADDAMS FAMILY, WAITING FOR GODOT, NOVEMBER, BUTLEY, THE ODD COUPLE, THE FROGS, THE PLAY WHAT I WROTE, THE PRODUCERS, THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER (in which he recently re-appeared as part of a benefit for Roundabout), ...FORUM, LOVE!, VALOR! COMPASSION!, LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR, GUYS AND DOLLS, WIND IN THE WILLOWS, MERLIN and PRESENT LAUGHTER.
