Natalie Douglas brings a brand new show to Birdland next Monday, June 8th at 7pm.  Entitled "The Heart of the Matter," it is a collection of songs that transfixed Natalie as a child and teenager in Los Angeles.  These are the songs that she would listen to over and over in her bedroom, crying, laughing and, of course, singing as she discovered the power of music and how it could indeed, reach to The Heart of the Matter with intelligent lyrics, beautiful melodies and that dash of magic.

Most of these songs are from the 70's and 80's and include titles by Don Henley (Heart of the Matter), Johnny Cash (Home of the Blues) and Stevie Wonder (A Place in the Sun, All in Love is Fair), but also break the boundaries of genre and decade, with titles by George Gershwin (It Ain't Necessarily So) and Irving Berlin (Say It Isn't So).

Natalie will be joined by her longtime music director and Avenue Q's Associate Conductor, Mark Hartman on piano, Michael Blanco on bass, Joe Choroszewski on guitar and Dan Davine on drums.

To order tickets, visit http://www.instantseats.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.venue&VenueID=68.

There is a $25 cover with a $15 minimum.

This promises to be a truly memorable show with Natalie and Mark's great music, but also with the special connection Natalie has to these songs.

So come on down and see "The Heart of the Matter."  And since Natalie Douglas is no longer at Brandy's, the only place to see Natalie Douglas sing is at a Natalie Douglas show!  If you are a Natalie Douglas concert regular, you know what you're in for.  If you've never seen a Natalie Douglas show, get your butt down to Birdland on June 8 and check out what people have been raving about.
