On Sunday, October 21, the Actors Unite to End Alzheimer's NYC 2012 team walked in Riverside Park in the National Walk to End Alzheimer's for the Alzheimer's Association. Actors Unite was founded by Nancy Daly, former member of the Actors' Equity National Council, in 2011 in honor of her own mom who died of Alzheimer's on May 8, 2012. Nancy wanted to build a community of support and compassion for her fellow actors and anyone who has a loved one with Alzheimer's.

On Sunday, led by Carol Monda, Co-Captain of Actors Unite NYC and SAG-AFTRA NY Local Board member and including Actors' Equity National President, Nick Wyman, Actors Unite NYC walked in Riverside Park and as a team, raised over $9300. To date, Actors Unite to End Alzheimer's 2012 has raised over $17500 across the country and that number is still climbing.

Actors Unite raised over $23,000 nationwide last year and Nancy received a personal letter from President Obama praising the team and their efforts to raise awareness and support for those who have a loved one with Alzheimer's. Actors Unite is supported by both the Actors' Equity Association and SAG-AFTRA.

Other Actors Unite teams will walk on the National Mall on Saturday, October 27th; in Los Angeles in Century City on Sunday, November 4th; and in Hollywood, FL in North Beach Park on Saturday, November 10th. All are welcome to join the teams: actors, colleagues, friends and family. When Actors Unite, the world can shift--and sure enough, it does.
