Latinologues, which will feature Latino (and Latina) performers riffing on Hispanic culture in America, will come to Broadway this fall. The show will open at the Helen Hayes (240 W. 44th St.) on October 23rd after beginning previews on September 13th; it will play a 12-week limited run through December 4th.

The show has toured the country for the last few years; it garnered the 2004 Imagen Award for Live Theatrical Production. Rick Najera, who created and wrote the show, calls it "comedy with a universal appeal with a Latin flavor." Najera will also perform in Latinologues, as will Eugenio Derbez, Rene Lavan and Shirley A. Rumierk. Cheech Marin, who began his career as the marijuana-loving comedy partner of Tommy Chong and who has since become a more serious actor, will helm the show.

In its various productions around the US (including stagings at the South Coast Repertory Theater in CA and the Victory Gardens Theatre in Chicago), Latinologues was a vehicle for some of the most high-profile Hispanic performers in show business--among them, Maria Conchita Alonso, Geraldo Rivera, Mario Lopez and Erik Estrada.

Najera has contributed his comedic writing to such shows as "In Living Color" and "MAD TV." As an actor, he has appeared on "The West Wing," "China Beach" and "Falcon Crest." Marin has directed the films Born in East L.A. and Cheech and Chong: Get Out of My Room. Some of his films as an actor include Once Upon a Time in Mexico, all three Spy Kids movies, Tin Cup, Desperado and After Hours.

Latinologues' performance schedule is: Tuesday-Friday evenings at 8 PM, Saturdays at 5 and 9 PM and Sundays at 3 and 7 PM. Tickets can be purchased by calling (212) 239-6200. For more information on the show, visit www.latinologues.net.
