Circa returns to the NYU Skirball Center with the U.S. premiere of Wunderkammer, a sexy, funny and explosive cabinet of wonders featuring seven multi-talented artists. The new work is described as "a breathtaking spectacle, full of sheer physical poetry."
Performances of Wunderkammer will take place March 20-24 (see schedule above) at the NYU Skirball Center. The running time is 85 minutes with no intermission. The NYU Skirball center is located at 566 LaGuardia Place in Manhattan. Tickets, which are $30-$58, are available online at nyuskirball.org or by phone at 212.352.3101.
Australia's Circa is world-renowned for its unique artistry-a distinctly 21st century circus that incorporates contemporary dance and even performance art as well as virtuosic acrobatics, and discards most of the trappings of traditional circus in favor of unmediated, emotionally rich choreography. Under the artistic direction of Yaron Lifschitz, the ensemble creates innovative, genre-bending pieces that celebrate the expressive possibilities of the human body at its extremes.
Wunderkammer is part of the Visions + Voices Global Performance Series highlighting International Artists from a chosen locale. The series brings a global site into sharp focus with dance, circus, music, theater, film and visual art.
