NYTW Extends FONDLY, COLLETTE RICHLAND

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) has announced an extension for FONDLY, COLLETTE RICHLAND, the first production of the New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) 2015/16 Season. FONDLY, COLLETTE RICHLAND began previews on Friday, September 11, 2015 and officially opened on Monday, September 28, 2015 at New York Theatre Workshop (79 E. 4th Street New York, NY 10003), and will now run through Saturday, October 24 2015. NYTW's Obie and Lortel award-winning company-in-residence Elevator Repair Service, best known for their innovative adaptations of American literary classics like The Sound and the Fury, The Select (The Sun Also Rises) and Gatz, breaks new ground with the world premiere of FONDLY, COLLETTE RICHLAND by Sibyl Kempson, its first collaboration with a living playwright. Kempson, an NYTW Usual Suspect, and the company create a richly detailed and darkly comedic world brought to vivid life by an unforgettable ensemble under the direction of ERS Artistic Director John Collins.

The ensemble cast of ERS veterans features Laurena Allan ("Blue Jasmine"), Kate Benson (The Wonder of the World), Lindsay Hockaday (Gatz), Maggie Hoffman (Arguendo), Mike Iveson ("Orange is the New Black"), Vin Knight (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof), April Matthis (Hollow Roots), Greig Sargeant (The Little Foxes), Kaneza Schaal (The Sound and the Fury), Susie Sokol (Arguendo), Lucy Taylor (The Select (The Sun Also Rises)), and Ben Jalosa Williams (The Sound and the Fury).

The production features scenic design by David Zinn; costume design by Jacob A. Climer; additional costumes by David Zinn; lighting design by Mark Barton; sound design by Ben Williams; and original compositions by Mike Iveson.

FONDLY, COLLETTE RICHLAND is a co-production of New York Theatre Workshop and Elevator Repair Service, and was commissioned in part by the Walker Art Center (Minneapolis, MN) where it received preview performances in May 2013. Developed with support from The Playwrights' Center, New York Theatre Workshop, The Performing Garage, and Abrons Arts Center.

The performance schedule for FONDLY, COLLETTE RICHLAND is as follows: Tuesday and Wednesday at 7pm; Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8pm; Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. There will be no 7pm performance on Sunday October 11, nor 2PM on Saturday, October 24 .

As previously announced, New York Theatre Workshop's 2015/16 season will also include the world premiere of LAZARUS, by David Bowie and Enda Walsh (ONCE, Tony Award) inspired by the novel The Man Who Fell to Earth by Walter Tevis, and directed by Ivo van Hove (Hedda Gabler, More Stately Mansions, Obie Awards); the New York premiere of RED SPEEDO written by Lucas Hnath (The Christians) and directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz (Hollow Roots); and HADESTOWN by celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and inventive two-time OBIE award-winning director Rachel Chavkin (Three Pianos, Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812).

Elevator Repair Service is a New York City-based company that creates original works for live theater with an ongoing ensemble. Since its founding in 1991 by John Collins and a group of actors, ERS has built a body of work that has earned it a loyal following and made it one of New York's most highly-acclaimed experimental theater companies. The company's work was most recently seen at the Public Theater with Arguendo in fall 2014 (Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Projection Design), and for the New York premiere in 2010 of Gatz, and the return engagement in 2012.
