New Jersey Ballet celebrates some of Broadway's most memorable dance sequences when it performs Ballet on Broadway at the Mayo Performing Arts Center on Saturday, May 17 at 8 pm. Tickets are $29-59

New Jersey Ballet returns on Sunday, May 18, with two performances of Cinderella at 1:30 pm and 4 pm. Tickets are $15-25. This performance is recommended for ages 4 and above.

Ballet on Broadway will include the Challenge Dance from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and Too Darn Hot from Kiss Me Kate, both staged by Patti Colombo, and March, a New York-y piece with a decided Fosse flavor by Kinney. Recorder Newspapers cheered March as "Very sharp and up to date."

The evening will also include two of the company's recent repertory additions Hand in Hand, a Celebration of Count Basie, and Stride in Style which skips through the evolution of stride piano style. Both ballets feature Jazz Age music by Count Basie, Wayne Shorter and many others and choreography by Alvin Ailey's Matthew Rushing (Basie piece) and Stride in Style by much in-demand young choreographer James Kinney. These two pieces are part of New Jersey Ballet's project celebrating the state's 350th anniversary.

Special guests, The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir, will bring their spirited young voices and snappy choreography to a medley of musical theatre show-stoppers.

What better way is there to spend a Sunday afternoon than bringing the whole family to see the tale of a plucky young girl who loses a dancing slipper and wins a royal prince. For about the price of a movie ticket, children and grownups are transported to a fairytale world where all is tuneful, colorful, graceful; where the hours of the clock come to life and a pumpkin turns into a coach before your very eyes. New Jersey Ballet's original "storyteller" narration helps even the littlest theatergoers keep up with the story.

Mayo Performing Arts Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, presents a wide range of programs that entertain, enrich, and educate the diverse population of the region and enhance the economic vitality of Northern New Jersey. The 2013-2014 season is made possible, in part, by a grant the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as support received from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, F.M. Kirby Foundation and numerous corporations, foundations and individuals. The Mayo Performing Arts Center has been designated a Major Presenting Organization by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
