NEWSADOOZIES: A Man-Eating Musical, a new musical parody of the cult movie/Broadway musical Newsies, enters its third month at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, 307 West 26th Street (west of 8th Ave). Showtimes are: Wednesday, May 2nd @ 9:30PM (paired with Commercial Interruption) and Wednesday, May 16th @ 9:30PM (paired with Brandon Gulya Will Be Famous Soon.

Later in May, the show will be making its Los Angeles debut, May 31st at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles.

Billy Headlines and his fellow newsboys (or for short, the newsies. Or for even shorter, the newsadoozies!) are getting along as best they can amongst the kidney thieves, pissing bums and heroin dens of New York, circa eighteen something! But they’re about to meet a problem bigger than any they’ve encountered before. Will friendship and principles win out over what lies behind Helga Von Schmidt’s doors? Newsadoozies is a new musical comedy chronicling the newsboys of New York City (the ‘ninety-nine percent’ of their era) in their adventures of selling newspapers, finding love, and getting eaten by the members of an ancient evil cannibalistic sex cult.

Newsadoozies stars Brian Glidewell (College Humor, UCB team Ragnarock), Megan Maes (Baby Wants Candy, Improv Everywhere), Katie Schorr (CollegeHumor, Take Me. Seriously.), Kevin Michael Murray (The Book of Mormon), Aaron Jackson (UCB teams Sandino and Everything Rabbits), Dan Hodapp (The Scene, UCB’s Beige), and Stephanie Streisand (Late Night With Jimmy Fallon). Brian Glidewell and Marcy Jarreau (Girl Camp, The To-Do List) wrote the book and lyrics with music and additional lyrics by Kevin Carter (Summer Schlock, That’s Andy). Christopher Gladysz directs.
