Kid-driven dance: NDI's Celebration Team has performed every season at Symphony Space since 2006, and their shows always attract a full house. More than 70 performers, all of whom are under 18, will perform pieces based on music and dance from China, an exclusive reprise of NDI's "Event of the Year." Jacques D'Amboise, legendary principal dancer of the New York City Ballet, founded NDI in the belief that the arts have a unique power to engage children and motivate them toward excellence. In this poignantly silly puppet/human adventure tale for families, Sylvie is sent to the backyard to hang up the laundry. The moment her back is turned, a mischievous squirrel steals her favorite piece of clothing and runs off. When Sylvie gives chase, an entire world emerges from her laundry basket, and curious characters show her the way through mysterious lands.
