NBC's MEET THE PRESS is #1 Public Affairs Hour for Week of 4/6

More viewers tuned into "Meet the Press" on April 6, 2014 than any other Sunday public affairs hour, according to Nielsen Media Research data. The NBC broadcast drew 2.767 million viewers and 730,000 viewers A25-54, topping the competition in total viewers. Comparing the programs hour to hour, MTP beat This Week by +15,000 total viewers and beat Face The Nation by +347,000 total viewers.

MTP delivered an additional 933,000 total viewers and 384,000 A25-54 viewers with rebroadcasts - 494,000 total viewers and 261,000 A25-54 viewers on the network and 439,000 total viewers and 123,000 A25-54 viewers on MSNBC.

In Washington, DC, MTP averaged 110,000 total viewers (3.3/9HH), +59% ahead of Fox News Sunday's 69,000 viewers (2.0/5), +168% more than Face The Nation hour's 41,000 (1.2/3), and +279% ahead of This Week's 29,000 (0.8/2).

Highlights:

• MTP averaged 2.767 million total viewers, +1% (+15,000) more than This Week's 2.752 million, +14% (+340,000) more than Face The Nation hour's 2.420 million, and +150% (+1,660,000) ahead of Fox News Sunday's 1.107 million.

• In homes, MTP delivered a 2.0 rating and 6 share, ahead of This Week's 1.9/5, Face The Nation hours' 1.7/5 and Fox News Sunday's 0.8/2.

• In rating A25-54, MTP delivered a 0.6 rating, +1 tenth ahead of Face The Nation hour's 0.5, and +3 tenths more than Fox News Sunday's 0.3.

• MTP averaged 730,000 A25-54 viewers, +93,000 more than Face The Nation hour's 637,000, and +353,000 more than Fox News Sunday's 377,000.

Sunday's edition of "Meet the Press" featured an exclusive interview with Fmr. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael Mullen; a debate between Alabama businessman Shaun McCutcheon and President of Public Citizen Robert Weissman; a discussion with author of "Flash Boys: A Wall Street Revolt" Michael Lewis; and a roundtable featuring Washington Post Columnist Kathleen Parker, Fmr. Republican New Hampshire Senator & Boston Globe Contributor John E. Sununu, Fmr. Rep. Harold Ford, Jr. (D-TN), and Fmr. Chairman & CEO of America Online Steve Case.
