NBC Drops DECEPTION After One Season

NBC's version of Revenge is reportedly dead.

According to Deadline, in the midst of choosing which pilots to order to the 2013-2014 season, the network has chosen not to renew DECEPTION, starring Megan Good, for a second season.

The freshman drama, often viewed as a Revenge knock-off, failed to capture a loyal audience and consistently underperformed.

Last month, NBC announced that it had renewed CHICAGO FIRE, GRIMM, LAW & ORDER: SVU, PARENTHOOD, and REVOLUTION.

Deception was NBC's new mid-season drama that follows the Bowers family dynasty through the opulent world of excess and Scandal in which they live, starting with the death of the family's eldest daughter, Vivian Bowers. The series starred Good, Laz Alonso, Victor Garber, John Larroquette, and Tate Donovan.

Liz Heldens ("Friday Night Lights") served as executive producer/writer; the pilot was directed by Peter Horton ("Grey's Anatomy," "Dirty Sexy Money"). Executive producers also include Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun, and Gene Stein.
