David Eisner and Avery Saltzman, co-Artistic Directors of the Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company, Toronto's only professional theatre company established to celebrate, illuminate and share Jewish culture, today announced their 2012/2013 season.

The 2012-2013 season opens in the Studio Theatre with NAZI HUNTER – THE SIMON WIESENTHAL STORY. This one- man show, direct from LA, follows Wiesenthal and recounts how this heroic man, after escaping the death at the hands of Hitler's S.S., devoted his life to bringing war criminals to justice. Told with warmth, insight and inspiring humour, this critically acclaimed production stars Tom Dugan, who himself has a personal connection to the story.

Featuring an elite group of ten Canadian Musical Theatre performers, including Brent Carver, Cynthia Dale, Arlene Duncan and Sterling Jarvis*, OVER THE RAINBOW WITH Harold Arlen will celebrate one of the 20th Century's best Jewish composers. With songs including Over the Rainbow, Stormy Weather, The Man That Got Away and Come Rain or Come Shine, this one night only concert in the beautiful George Weston Recital Hall promises to be a great evening of theatre. *All artists are subject to change.

Playing in March/April 2013, during the Jewish celebration of Passover, is a powerful play called THE WHIPPING MAN. Produced in association with Obsidian Theatre Company, this Canadian Premiere will be directed by Philip Akin and will star Dora winner Sterling Jarvis, Daniel Brie?re and Thomas Olajide. Playing in the Studio Theatre and centered around Passover in 1865, The Whipping Man tells the story of officer Caleb DeLeon, who has returned home after fighting the war to find his family missing and only two former slaves remaining. As the three men wait for the family's return, they wrestle with their shared past as master and slave, digging up long-buried family secrets as well as new ones. Slavery and war, they discover, warp even good men's souls.

The final show of the season, FALSETTOS, will take place at the new Regent Park Arts and Cultural Centre. This Tony Award winning musical will be produced by Acting Up Stage Company in association with the Harold Green Jewish Theatre company and will be directed by Dora Award winner Robert McQueen with musical director Reza Jacobs and choreographer Tim French. Set against the backdrop of the post sexual-revolution and the emergence of AIDS, Falsettos tells the story of Marvin, a Jewish father, who, in l979, leaves his wife and son for another man. Told with great humour and spirit, this beautiful musical breathtakingly depicts the birth of a non-traditional family amidst a time of astonishing change.

The 2012/2013 season also sees the return of the popular CONVERSATIONS ON THE GREEN series. This series features notable Jewish personalities from the world of theatre, art, literature and politics speaking on how their religion has influenced their lives and chosen professions. Confirmed guests include SENATOR LINDA FRUM, philanthropists and authors ROSALIE and ISADORE SHARP, theatre producer Aubrey Dan and the co-artistic directors of HGJTC, Avery Saltzman and David Eisner

In addition to the four-show subscription package, The Harold Green JEWISH THEATRE COMPANY is also announcing a partnership with the ASHKENAZ FESTIVAL for two events. Theatre Panik's THE CORPSE BRIDE, a unique dance piece based on the Yiddish folklore of the same title, will be presented as part of the Ashkenaz Festival at the Enwave Theatre at Harbourfront.
