This season's "Musicals in Mufti" series will begin with Take Me Along, which begins tonight, Friday, October 13th and plays for just five performances this weekend through October 15th.

Based on the play Ah, Wilderness! by Eugene O'Neill, the musical has a book by Joseph Stein and Robert Russell, music and lyrics by Bob Merrill.  Michael Montel directs a cast that features: Susan Bigelow (Lily Miller), Melissa Bohon, Ken Cavett, Matthew Crowle, Ryan Driscoll, Jay Aubrey Jones, Jacob Levy, Lorinda Lisitza, Robyne Parrish, Andrew Rasmussen, David Schramm (Sid Davis), Deborah Jean Templin, and Nick Wyman (Nat Miller).

"Take Me Along takes place in Centerville, Connecticut, in 1906 and its story begins with a triumph in journalism. Nat Miller, publisher of the Centerville Globe, has won a new fire engine for the town and its citizens celebrate its purchase by cheering him. Somewhat overcome by the honor, Nat wonders if he is truly as great as the people claim. His wife Essie, his sister Lily and the rest of his family insist, over his objections that he is. But his pride is tarnished when one of his advertisers condemns him because of the seductive and romantic poetry that his son has been reading to the advertiser's daughter. Amidst all this is the story of the ne'er-do-well brother-in-law who never met a boss nor a booze he could tolerate," state notes.

Take Me Along is one of three musicals with a book written or co-written by Joseph Stein (Fiddler on the Roof, Zorba, The Baker's Wife) that are being presented by the York this season as "Musicals in Mufti" concerts.  Carmelina runs October 20th through 22nd, and Plain and Fancy plays October 27th through 29th.
