Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra's Progressions program, a high-impact, intensive string training program for early elementary students from City of Milwaukee schools, presents its annual Winter Concert on Thursday, January 30, 5:30 p.m., at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, 325 W. Walnut St., Milwaukee.

Launched in 2003, the Progressions Program was founded with the goal of increasing the participation of underrepresented populations in both the MYSO ensembles and music programs across Milwaukee. A decade later, the program has grown to 76 students and provides group lessons, orchestra training and intensive private lessons for violin, viola, cello and bass. The participants in the program are school-nominated third and fourth grade students from the City of Milwaukee and/or MPS schools.

The Progressions Winter Concert will feature short solos, duets, small ensembles and orchestral performances by MYSO Progressions students and is free to the public; call 414-267-2949 for free tickets

The Progressions program is funded in part by a generous grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
