MidAtlantic Opera Announces Casting for 9/21 Celebration of 200th Anniversary of Giuseppe Verdi

Celebrating its Inaugural Season, the MidAtlantic Opera, under the leadership of Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Jason C. Tramm proudly announces principal casting for the company's inaugural production Verdiana - a grand opera concert with chorus and orchestra under the baton of Jason C. Tramm - celebrating the 200th Anniversary of Giuseppe Verdi, Saturday September 21 at 7:30 PM at the historic Great Auditorium in Ocean Grove.

Highlighting the development of Italian opera's most influential composer of the 19th century, the concert will feature masterworks spanning Verdi's operatic career from 1839-1893.

Featured soloists will include noted Canadian soprano SHARON AZRIELI PEREZ (whose operatic roles include Juilette in the Canadian Opera Company's Gounod's Roméo et Juliette with Marcello Giordani, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro; Adrienne Lecouvreur with the l'Opéra de Paris and engagements as featured soloist with Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Haifa Symphony Orchestra the Jerusalem Symphony and the McGill Chamber Orchestra);

Bass- baritone JEREMY GALYON (whose recent roles at the Metropolitan Opera include the High Priest in Nabucco, Jago in Ernani, Commissioner in Madama Butterfly, and Second Mate in Billy Budd. Galyon has performed Masetto/Don Giovanni and Larkens/La Fanciulla del West with the Glimmerglass Opera, Theseus/A Midsummer Night's Dream with Chicago Opera Theater and 2nd Armed Man/Die Zauberflöte with Florida Grand Opera);

rising star, American soprano CHRISTINA MAJOR (Roles include Elettra in Opera San Jose's premiere of Mozart's Idomeneo and featured soloist engagements with Santa Rosa Symphony in their Evening of Verdi. Greenville Symphony, Winston-Salem Symphony, Arizona Music Festival, the Tucson Symphony, and the Midsummer Mozart Festival in their performance of Mozart's Great mass in C Minor); and acclaimed lyric tenor RONALD NALDI ( who has sung with Metropolitan Opera since his debut in 1983, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Arena di Verona, Salzburger Landestheater, L'Opéra Français, and as tenor soloist and artist-in-residence in Ocean Grove, New Jersey for 40 summer seasons).

The MidAtlantic Opera will donate 10% of box office proceeds to the Great Auditorium Roof Renovation project to help defray the cost of repairs sustained during Supper Storm Sandy. The historic Great Auditorium, built in 1894, is one of New Jersey's most beloved landmarks and the premier architectural structure of the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association, listed in both the state and National Register of Historic Places.
