Join Roderick P. Thompson, president and principal restorer at Santo Spirito Restoration in Brooklyn, NY, and an instructor in Appraisal Studies at NYU, as he uses objects in the collection of the Merchant's House Museum to illustrate proper care of antique furniture. You'll learn what to look for when purchasing antiques, how to prevent and repair damage, as well as cleaning and maintenance techniques that will keep your furniture in excellent condition for years to come.

Caring for Your Antiques is the first presentation in the Museum's new public program series - 19th-Century Lifeways - in which experts will lecture on 19th century American decorative arts, New York City social history, architecture, preservation, and related subjects. The Merchant's House Museum's intact 1832 landmark building and original collections will provide the springboard for the lectures.
