Just in time for her 42nd birthday today, Broadway superstar and GLEE standout Idina Menzel is featured in a newly released clip from this year's Laurence Olivier Awards, with a stirring musical tribute to the late Marvin Hamlisch.

EGOT-recipient Hamlisch famously composed the music for many feature films in addition to his scores for A CHORUS LINE and THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG on Broadway, although he was also represented in the theatre with the musicals SMILE, Jean Seberg, THE GOODBYE GIRL, THE NUTTY PROFESSOR, the play IMAGINARY FRIENDS and the short-lived, but astonishing SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS.

Menzel performs a song actually cut from the final SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS score, a touching tune titled "That's How I Say Goodbye".

Menzel is visibly - and audibly - moved while performing this rare and affecting Hamlisch gem, making it pack an even greater emotional wallop.

Indeed, the all-too-apropos Craig Carnelia lyrics say everything that needs to be said - Hamlisch was truly one singular sensation and will be missed for many decades to come.
