The Geffen Playhouse has a few updates to the 2007/2008 season which was previously announced to include two commissioned plays and a multiple of World, American and West Coast premieres on its main stage and the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater.  Recent Tony Award winner Michael Mayer is slated to direct Joanna Murray-Smith's The Female of the Species.  The American premiere starring Annette Bening moves on to Broadway following the presentation at the Geffen.

Actor-director Adrian Pasdar and Geffen Playhouse Artistic Director Randall Arney are set to co-direct the World premiere of Atlanta.  Pasdar, along with singer-songwriter Marcus Hummon, developed the progressive new musical, which mixes select prose by William Shakespeare with original bluegrass music and country tunes.  Additionally, Daniel Beaty's Emergence-SEE! is moving from the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater to the main stage.  The transition finalizes the five-play season on the main stage.  Beaty takes on more than 40 different characters as they respond to a 400-year old slave ship that rises out of the Hudson River in his critically acclaimed one-man show.  Future presentations for the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater at Geffen Playhouse may be announced later.
