Author Matt Thomas provides an exposition of the story of Noah with practical applications for life today in his new book, "Will It Float?: The Ark of the Church" (published by WestBow Press).

"From the viewpoint of a well-known Bible story, 'Will It Float?' relates how we are in the ark-building business of building the Church," Thomas says.

Thomas uses the Old Testament story of Noah building the ark to help readers understand what the church is supposed to be in the New Testament. It was through his own study of the story of Noah that Thomas saw how it could relate to the building up of the body of Christ.

"I want readers to see that the Bible is one grand story and even one of the oldest stories in the Bible has relevance to our lives today," Thomas says.

An excerpt from "Will It Float?":

"The world had fallen into darkness, and creation was in utter rebellion. The answer seemed to be that God would wipe mankind from the face of the earth. That would have been just, and God had every right. 'But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord' (Genesis 6:8). So the questions must be asked: Are you different than the world? Is there any reason for God to look at you and find favor?"
