Matt Doyle, best known for his work in 'Spring Awakening' and 'Bye Bye Birdie' on Broadway, as well as a recurring role on 'Gossip Girl' and several sold-out solo concerts at Joe's Pub, will be recording an EP this winter. The music will be a mix of soul and pop tunes - including both covers and original songs co-written with composer Will Van Dyke.

Upon launching his album fundraising campaign on Kickstarter.com three weeks ago with a video appeal to his fans, Doyle met his initial goal of $8,500 in just 12 hours. Since then, support from fans on Facebook and Twitter have nearly doubled that goal, prompting Doyle to expand the scope of the project.

Since the launch and early success of the campaign, the project has attracted the attention of several music industry creatives, including arranger/producer, Deborah Lurie, who has worked with numerous pop artists including Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson. She also produced the 2007 studio recording of 'Bare,' which starred Doyle in the role of Peter.

With a week left in the campaign and pledge totals currently over $15,000, Doyle hopes to reach a new goal of $20,000 by the end of the campaign on Friday, November 12, 2010. The additional funds will go towards recording additional songs and adding production value to the constantly evolving project.

Those interested in participating in funding Matt Doyle's CD can do so at kickstarter.com until Friday: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/885348386/help-produce-matt-doyles-first-ep.
