Marymount Manhattan College to Honor Tony Nominee Frank Wildhorn at President's Gala, 4/28

On Monday, April 28, 2014, Marymount Manhattan College (MMC) will host the annual President's Gala, a special evening honoring Grammy and Tony Award nominated composer, lyricist and producer Frank Wildhorn.

"We very much look forward to hosting this year's Gala, as well as honoring longtime MMC friend Frank Wildhorn," said Marymount Manhattan College President Judson R. Shaver, Ph.D. "The evening will be a wonderful celebration of the College, and will highlight our talented students, alumni and programs. This is an especially important event, because the proceeds from the Gala are used to benefit our students throughout the College."

Guests will enjoy cocktails, dinner, silent and live auctions, and the highlight of the evening, a special performance by Frank Wildhorn, along with Broadway actors (including Robert Evan of Jekyll & Hyde fame), Marymount Manhattan College students and alumni Emmy Raver-Lampman '12, Adrienne Warren '09 and Jason Gotay '11.

About Frank Wildhorn: Frank Wildhorn, a multi-Grammy and Tony Award nominated composer/producer, has produced works that span the worlds of popular, theatrical and classical music. In 1999, Mr. Wildhorn became the first American composer in 22 years to have three shows running simultaneously on Broadway: Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel and The Civil War. His score for Bonnie & Clyde was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Score. Mr. Wildhorn produced Harlem Song at the famed Apollo Theatre. His international productions include Cyrano, The Count of Monte Cristo and Carmen, among others. Mr. Wildhorn served as music director for the Goodwill Games in New York City in 1998. He composed "Gold," the opening number for the 2002 Winter Olympics, and received the prestigious Charles Dickens Award from USC, where there is a scholarship under his name. Artists who have recorded and performed Mr. Wildhorn's works include Whitney Houston (#1 international hit, "Where Do Broken Hearts Go?"); Natalie Cole; Kenny Rogers; Sammy Davis, Jr.; Liza Minnelli; Julie Andrews; Hootie & the Blowfish; The Moody Blues; Freddie Jackson; Trisha Yearwood; Molly Hatchet; Blues Traveler; Trace Adkins; Patti LaBelle; Amy Grant and more. Mr. Wildhorn is a close friend of MMC, having mentored several of the College's graduates and was instrumental in launching their careers.
