The John W. Engeman Theater is proud to present BIG DUMMY, written & performed by Mary Dimino, and winner of the United Solo Award of Theatre Row (First Sold Out Show 2014).

The John W. Engeman Theater at Northport is Long Island's only year-round professional theater company, casting its actors directly from the Broadway talent pool, providing high-quality theater in a uniquely elegant location. The newly renovated Engeman Theater seats 754 stadium-style, has state-of-the-art lighting and sound, along with full orchestra pit. Opening its doors in 2007, the Engeman Theater has organized over fifty productions of Broadway's finest musicals and plays.

"Mary Dimino is back!" announces the Engeman Theater, referring to her successful sold out run this April with her hit solo play SCARED SKINNY: A One (Hundred Pound Lighter) Woman Show. Within fourteen days of tickets going live, all seats for Dimino's performance were sold out, making it one of the fastest selling, most popular special event bookings in the theater's history.

The Engeman Theatre is looking forward to "another invigorating night with Dimino" where she will tell what it was like growing up smarter than her father in a funny, factory-working family from Queens. In BIG DUMMY: Me & My Old Man, Dimino recalls her father's simple philosophy on life, which she later interpreted to be a cross between Aristotle and Forrest Gump. It took Dimino becoming an adult to realize that her very different dad is brilliant, as is.

Mary Dimino is the 2010 MAC Award Winner for Outstanding Female Comedian and a Gracie Allen Award winning actress. Dimino earned The New York International Fringe Festival Overall Excellence Award for Outstanding Solo Show (Scared Skinny). Her book, Scared Skinny No More, based on her autobiographical show, is published by Sunbury Press and debuted #10 on their Best Seller List.

Mary Dimino's TV appearances include NBC's Today Show, FOX series Laughs, HBO's Chris Rock Show, VH-1's Best Week Ever, Comedy Central's Graham Norton Effect, American Movie Classics' Interstitial Movie Moments, sketches on Late Shows with David Letterman and Conan O'Brien, and numerous national commercials. On stage she has played the Maid of Honor in Tony and Tina's Wedding, Carmella in Surprise, and last winter season landed the role of Vidalia in the off-Broadway hit My Big Gay Italian Funeral at St. Luke's Theater.

BIG DUMMY is directed by Christine Renee Miller. Miller has directed other premiere award-winning works by Dimino (SCARED SKINNY, FringeNYC Best Solo Show Award), Michelle Glick's Asian Belle (Midtown International Theater Festival Audience Award), among others.

Tickets for BIG DUMMY are on sale for $45. Performance is tonight, August 19th at 7:00 pm.
