Molloy College is set to announce the opening of the new Madison Theatre, located in the Public Square building on the College's Rockville Centre campus.

The theatre will open on November 12 with a Gala event hosted by comedian Martin Short and written by multiple Emmy Award winner and best -selling author Alan Zweibel. The theatre's Artistic Director is Angelo Fraboni, an accomplished Broadway performer who has also produced and managed a wide range of Off-Broadway productions and tours, including Celebrity Autobiography.

The November 12 ‘Evening of Entertainment' will feature appearances by a number of performers from Celebrity Autobiography (including comedian Mario Cantone, Rachel Dratch from Saturday Night Live, Scott Adsit from 30 Rock and Tony Award-winning actress Cady Huffman, who starred as Ulla in The Producers), world renowned violinist Ittai Shapira, the Elite String Ensemble of the Children's Orchestra (directed by Dr. Yeou-Cheng Ma,) rock musician Jo Wymer, Ashle Dawson from So You Think You Can Dance, Broadway dancer Ashley Amber, jazz singer Gregory Generet, and Mr. Short's "Jiminy Glick" character. The variety-style format will highlight the versatility of both the artists and the new performance space.

The multi-million dollar Madison Theatre is a state-of-the-art facility that seats 550 attendees. The theatre is camera-ready, with eight different locations for producing high-quality recordings of performances. Audiences and performers will both enjoy the high-quality audio, thanks to the work of Sound Associates' Peter Fitzgerald.

There will be a pre-show cocktail reception and a unique ‘Dining Experience' (following the performances) will allow attendees to enjoy a delightful dinner that will take place on all three floors of the new Public Square student center that houses the Madison Theatre. Black Tie attire is suggested and tickets for dinner/pre-show packages can be purchased by contacting Cynthia Metzger at 516.678.5000 ext. 6723, or by visiting http://www.molloy.edu.

The Gala will honor Molloy College President Dr. Drew Bogner and Sister Mary Hughes, O.P., Ed.D. '68. Dr. Bogner will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, which is given to an outstanding community leader whose professional career has been marked by extraordinary personal and professional accomplishment. Sister Hughes will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award, which is given to a Molloy alumnus who demonstrates the true spirit of the College Mission and whose professional career is characterized by a series of outstanding achievements.
