On December 1, 2015, Marin Theatre Company (MTC) will celebrate 49 years of artistic excellence by participating in #GivingTuesday, an international 24-hour online campaign hosted on the Tuesday after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Last year, over 18,000 partner organizations worldwide, and over $1 million were raised for nonprofits all over the world on this day of giving back.

MTC is hoping to raise $2,500 for its New Play Program to help young playwrights develop and strengthen their work through artistic workshops, staged readings and playwright residencies.

"The New Play Program is central to the mission and values of Marin Theatre Company, supporting all areas of development and production for the theater. By putting the playwright first - through our annual new play prizes, new play commissions, development workshops, reading series and premiere productions - Marin Theatre Company demonstrates an enduring commitment to new voices in the American theater," says MTC's artistic director Jasson Minadakis.

Additionally, Dave Chapman, Partner and Director at Ketchum West and current MTC board member, has stepped forward to match funds raised during the #GivingTuesday campaign dollar-for-dollar, up to $2,500 dollars. All donations double the impact and double the influence for local artists and theatre! In honor of this generous contribution, MTC has named the matching grant challenge the #ChapmanChallenge.

MTC will be using Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts to connect with its online audiences and the Marin County communities to spread the word about this 24-hour campaign using the hashtags #GivingTuesday and #ChapmanChallenge along with a direct link to donate on Tuesday, December 1st.
