Sad news this evening. BroadwayWorld has just learned that Marc Raboy, well known photographer of Broadway legends and more, has passed away.

Born in Washington Heights in Upper Manhattan, Marc grew up in Teaneck, New Jersey. He graduated from The Horace Mann prep school in 1967, and went on to Illinois Institute of Technology, studying Design and Photography, and earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Design.

He returned to New York City in 1973, and after a very short stint as an actor, he catapulted his 25-year career to the top of his profession as a renowned freelance commercial photographer from his well-known studio in Chelsea. He specialized in entertainment photography, but was highly sought after in the fashion and beauty worlds as well.

Raboy photographed such luminaries as Lucille Ball, Liza Minnelli, Phyllis Diller, Harry Belafonte, Chita Rivera, Jason Robards, Connie Francis, Patti LaBelle, Rob Lowe, Sean Penn, Kevin Bacon, Phylicia Rashad, and Candice Bergen, just to mention a few. Many of his iconic images are synonymous with the stars' own legacies.
