Marc Kudisch to Lead GTG/Project Shaw's IN GOOD KING CHARLES'S GOLDEN DAYS

Gingold Theatrical Group's Project Shaw, under the leadership of Artistic Director David Staller, kicks off its 11th Season when it presents its 110th concert presentation with Shaw's comedy, In Good King Charles's Golden Days on Monday, January 11 at 7pm, at Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre (2537 Broadway at 95th Street).

Written in 1939, In Good King Charles's Golden Days is Shaw's 'almost historical' comedy. This larkish romp takes an irreverent peek through the royal keyhole at politics, sex, and science versus religion-all weaving around the lives of King Charles II, Isaac Newton, Nell Gwynn, and a host of very colorful characters.

In Good King Charles's Golden Days features Annie Golden (Mrs. Basham), Blair Busbee (Sally), Sam Tsoutsouvas (Isaac Newton), Christopher Innvar (George Fox), Marc Kudisch (King Charles II), Liv Rooth (Nell Gwynn), Alexandra Silber (Barbara Villiers, Duchess of Cleveland), Margaret Loesser Robinson (Louise de Kerouaille, Duchess of Portsmouth), Josh Grisetti (James, Duke of York), David Garrison (Godfrey Kneller), and Eve Bianco (Queen Catherine of Braganza).

According to Staller, "To start our 11th year we're bringing you some of English history's most infamous and outrageous characters. Shaw doesn't leave many hot topics out of this one and adds a few into the mix. The wearing of crown jewels will be optional."

Now celebrating its 11th year, Gingold Theatrical Group's Project Shaw made history in December 2009 as the first company ever to present performances of every one of Shaw's 65 plays (including full-length works, one-acts and sketches). They are now also including plays by writers who most inspired Shaw to begin his playwriting career, including work by Chekhov, Ibsen, Wilde, Barrie and Harley Granville-Barker.

The 2016 Project Shaw Season continues with The Man of Destiny (February 15), The Fascinating Foundling (April 25), Caesar and Cleopatra (May 23), Geneva (June 20), The Apple Cart (July 25), Harley Granville-Barker's Farewell to the Theatre (September 19), On The Rocks (October 24), J.M. Barrie's Alice Sit-By-The-Fire (November 21), and Androcles and the Lion (December 19).

Gingold Theatrical Group's SHAW NEW YORK festival will feature a full production of Shaw's wicked comedy, Widowers' Houses. This co-production with TACT/The Actors Company Theatre will play from March 1 - April 2, 2016 at Theatre Row's Beckett Theatre, directed by David Staller. Tickets now on sale at Telecharge.com
