Manoa Valley Theatre Will Ring in 2017 with STAGE KISS

Manoa VAlley Theatre continues its 2016-17 season, ringing in the New Year with a contemporary comedy by Sarah Ruhl from the 2014 Off-Broadway season.

This is a hilarious story where art imitates life and life imitates art. When two actors with a history are thrown together as romantic leads in a forgotten 1930s melodrama, they quickly lose touch with reality as the story onstage follows them offstage. Romantic comedy and backstage farce are whipped together in this lively comedy about what happens when lovers share a stage kiss-or when actors share a real one. This is a Hawaii premiere.

Guest director of the production is Kevin Keaveney. Co-assistants to the director are Rasa Fournier and Hoku Gilbert. Set design is by DeAnne Kennedy. Sound design is by Chad McComas. Lighting design is by Janine Myers. Costume design is by Jim Correy. Props design is by Sara Ward. Hair and make-up design is by Lisa Ponce de Leon. Performing in the show are Allen Cole, Claire Fallon, Lanihuli Gilbert, LeGrande Lawrence, Adam Lefebvre, Alan Shepard and Amy K. Sullivan.

The production will run January 12 - January 29. Show times are Wed. 7:30p.m., Thur. 7:30 p.m., Fri. 8 p.m., Sat. 8 p.m., and Sun. 4 p.m. Tickets are $40. Seniors and military are admitted for $35, youth 25 years old and under for $20. Call 988-6131 or purchase tickets online at manoavalleytheatre.com. Tickets are also available at all military ticket outlets. The play is performed in two acts with one intermission. Approximate running time is 2 hours 20 minutes. Minimum age is 14.
