The Summer Solos Series (Scott Morfee and Darren Lee Cole, producers), a celebration of the best in solo performance and shows by acclaimed playwrights and performers, has announced the full cast for the one-night only special benefit performance of Spalding Gray: Stories Left To Tell on Thursday evening, July 16, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. with all proceeds going to the Spalding Gray Awards Fund. Directed by Lucy Sexton, the five-member cast features Aasif Mandvi who joins original cast members Ain Gordon, Bob Holman, Carmelita Tropicana and Frank Wood. Immediately following the performance there will be a brief reception with the artists in the Huron Club, located inside the Soho Playhouse.

When Spalding Gray succumbed to depression and took his life in the winter of 2004, he left behind a loving family, a legion of devoted fans and an enormous body of work. Spalding Gray: Stories Left to Tell charts a uniquely personal journey through Spalding's inimitable perspective and voice, featuring excerpts from his hilarious monologues juxtaposed with journal entries, poems, and other unpublished - and previously unperformed - writing. With words by Spalding Gray and conceived by Kathleen Russo, his widow, this resonant program is exquisitely crafted from excerpts of both his classic work as well as previously unpublished writing that catapults us into the hilarious and heartbreaking life and words of one of the most revered storytellers of our time.

Spalding Gray: Stories Left to Tell premiered Off-Broadway in 2007 to critical acclaim. The New York Times said, "Vividly funny. joyous, devastating, affecting, gorgeous . . .a breathing portrait." Variety added, "Fresh, engaging, moving, powerful. Gray's words not only relate the story of his own life, they allow a new group of artists to reflect on what being alive can mean."

Presented as part of Summer Solos Series at the Soho Playhouse, the proceeds from the performance will go to benefit the Spalding Gray Awards Fund. Tickets are $35 and may be purchased by visiting the Soho Playhouse website at www.sohoplayhouse.com or by calling (212) 691-1555.
