Maine State Music Theatre (MSMT) is proud to be one of the first regional theatres to present the feel-amazing musical comedy smash SISTER ACT, running June 24 - July 11, 2015.

Based on the hit 1992 film, the show features original music by TONY and 8-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors) and was nominated for five TONY Awards including Best Musical.

"Sister Act combines heart and joy to create musical theatre magic on stage," says Artistic Director, Curt Dale Clark. "The performances will knock your socks off."

When disco diva Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won't be found: a convent! Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique personality and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but blows her cover. Soon, the gang is giving chase only to find them up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood.

Filled with uplifting music, outrageous comedy and dancing, and a truly moving story, SISTER ACT is a sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship.

This high-energy show with a book by Cheri and Bill Steinkellner, with additional book materials by Douglas Carter Bean and lyrics by Glenn Slater, stars Trista Dollison (Deloris Van Cartier), Kingsley Leggs (Curtis Jackson), Jay McKenzie (Eddie Souther), Mary Jo McConnell (Mother Superior), David Girolmo (Monsignor O'Hara), Cary Michelle Miller (Sister Mary Robert), Charis Leos (Sister Mary Patrick), Jay McKenzie (

The supporting cast of SISTER ACT features Nik Alexander (TJ), Jayson Elliott (Joey), April Woodall (Sister Mary Lazarus), Brian Maurice Kinnard (Pablo), Adewonu-ola Ogunfowara (Michelle), Michaela K. Boissonneault (Tina), Beth Kirkpatrick, Jillian Jarrett, Chrissy Albanese, and local actors Alec Cohen (of Falmouth) and Birdie Newman Katz (of Augusta).

The award-winning Donna Drake (MSMT's The Full Monty; Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story) will direct and choreograph.
