The Greatest Show Ever Written in the History of the World...Ever Synopsis

This summer MadLab presents The Greatest Show Ever Written in the History of the World...Ever by Margaret Everson. The show follows Beverly Morgan, an accountant set to be married that weekend. She wanders into the wrong room in her building and finds herself catapulted through space and time. As she journeys though different time periods, galaxies, alternate universes, she continually remains on a quest to reach her fiancée, Michael. And while her journey stretches the boundaries of her love, the 70 minute piece stretches the boundaries of comedy, drama, interstellar communication and mystery.
The Columbus Foundation, GCAC, Scion, and OAC support MadLab throughout the year.

The Greatest
How does a show like this live up to its title? Andy Batt, Director explains:

"We had already set our season for 2011 when this piece was submitted. So, I started reading it and couldn't stop. I was even late for a rehearsal for the show I was in at the time. It has every element you look for in a show that challenges and pleases audiences at the same time. So, we found a way to fit it into the schedule"

Nikki Smith, plays XL-47, a robot that rules the planet Andromedor, but wants to learn to love: "At first, XL seems like this horrible despot, but Beverly is able to show her the way of earthly human love. It speaks to the humanity of the peace"

Sarah Brunet is Veronica, Beverly's wise cracking friend back at the office: "She has to come up with all these ways to explain to everyone else where Beverly is because she is the only one who can hear her because of her dental work. And it leads to all these crazy sticky situations."
Scott Tobin plays Dr. Mahockenfuss, creator of the time portal: "He is the typical absent-minded professor. He has mastered time and space, but he walks around with mismatched socks and peanut butter sandwiches in his suit jacket. But, it is up to him to help get Beverly back where she belongs"

Everson calls her work "a less sexy, more romantic Barbarella."
