Some of the Milwaukee area's brightest young stars take the stage when MYSO presents an Honor Recital featuring those recognized in MYSO's 2013 Senior Symphony Concerto Competition, as well as advanced chamber ensembles and MYSO's top jazz combo, the Bronzeville Jazz Quartet.

Solo performers will be competition honorable mentions...
violinist Samantha Carter, 15, of Delevan, performing Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole;
cellist Kartik Papatla, 17, of Mequon, performing the first movement of Haydn's Cello Concerto in D;
violinist Mara Bajic, 12, of Oconomowoc, also performing Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole;
violinist Holly Spangenberg, 17, of Thiensville, performing Sarasate's Zigeunerweisen;
...and ensembles...
MYSO's premier jazz combo, the Bronzeville Jazz Quartet, comprised of Rachel Heuer, tenor sax; Clayton Chapman, bass; Eli Smith, guitar; and Jake Richter, drums;
The string quartet String Theory, comprised of MYSO members violinists Samantha Carter and Tristan Aniceto, violist Nathaniel Sattler and cellist Joshua Baerwald, performing two movements from Ravel's String Quartet in F.
The piano quintet Go Fish comprised of violinist Zaneta Domblesky, violist Tim Reinholz, cellist Joshua Lukas, bassist Robert Earle and pianist Charles Phil, which will perform the first movement from Schubert's "Trout" Quintet.

Also recognized in this year's Senior Symphony Concerto Competition were:
Competition Winner--trombonist Thomas Bagin, 18, of Hubertus. Thomas will perform Guilmant's Morceau Symhonique as featured soloist with the Senior Symphony on Sunday, May 5, 6 PM, in Uihlein Hall of the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts.
Competition runner-up--harpist Chloé Tula, 17, of Delafield; and
Honorable mention--violinist Anna Belle Hoots, 18, of Mequon.
