Manhattan Musical Theatre Lab announces it second presentation for 2014-25 : The brand new musical comedy SUPER HERO tonight, November 20th at 6:30pm at The Snapple Theatre Center, 210West 50th, 4th Floor, just west of Broadway.

This hilarious valentine to the super hero origin story with book and lyrics by Kevin Hammonds and music by Kristin Bair, features Chris Critelli (Bull Durham), John Ambrosino (Jersey Boys), Jennifer Blood (Violet), Bruce Sabath (Company), and Trisha Rapier (Sister Act). Marlo Hunter (Unlock'd) directs, with musical direction by Vadim Feichtner (Spelling Bee).

Superman meets The 39 Steps in this epic, high-octane, comedic tour-de-force about two brothers whose lives are turned upside-down when one of them attains super-human powers. Set in a simpler time before super heroes existed, he must learn what to do with his new gifts as he struggles between "Goodness" vs. "Greatness."

Kevin Hammonds (book and lyrics) is a published playwright who has had more than fifty productions in New York, London and around the world. Most recently, his musical When Midnight Strikes played to rave reviews at The Gatehouse in London, and was nominated for an Off-West End award for Best Musical (original cast recording available on iTunes). Other musicals written with Charles Miller include Brenda Bly: Teen Detective, which received critical acclaim at London's Bridewell Theatre, and was published by Samuel French. In addition, their musicals Brenda Bly, When Midnight Strikes, Hope and Mr. Christmas have been published and translated into German. Recordings of his lyrics can be found on Julie Atherton's first solo CD A Girl of Few Words, Mark Joseph's CD Clear Blue Sky, Gemma Atkins' CD Yesterday Today Tomorrow, the original London cast recording of When Midnight Strikes, and most recently released, It's Just The Beginning: The Songs of Miller and Hammonds, now available on iTunes.

Kristin Bair, is a Philadelphia-­?based composer, lyricist, and accompanist. . Her work with collaborator Kevin Hammonds has been featured in two Prospect Theater Company productions: The Phobia-­Phobes, part of The Great NYC Treasure Quest (New York Musical Theatre Festival); and The Sell, a short musical developed in Prospect's Musical Theater Lab's production of Portraits. A member of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Advanced Workshop, her songs have been featured in the BMI Workshop Smoker, NYTB at the D Lounge, and the singer/songwriter showcase series "Are You Working On Something New?". Additionally, she wrote the book, music and lyrics for Cats and Mice, a musical for young audiences produced by a Philadelphia-­?area private school.

Marlo Hunter is the 2013 SDC Callaway Award winner for excellence in choreography on Unlock'd, which she directed and choreographed at The Duke (Prospect). Recent as Director/Choreographer: My Life Is A Musical (Bay Street), Date Of A Lifetime (NJ Rep); as Director: Island Song (Bloomington Playwrights Project); as Choreographer: Lips Together, Teeth Apart (Second Stage). Founder of Eating Their Words, pairing playwrights and chefs: commissioned and directed new plays by Annie Baker, Neil LaBute, Douglas Carter Beane, Theresa Rebeck, David Grimm, Beau Willimon, Amy Herzog, and Sarah Treem. MMTL, founded by Bick Goss as Musical Mondays, celebrates its 15 year presenting new musicals including Feeling Electric, which after a name change became the Pulitzer and Tony Winner Next to Normal. Other premieres include See Rock City and the upcoming It Shoulda Been You, slated opening on Broadway this season. Frank Evans serves as Producing Artistic Director and Daniel Israel is Board President.
